Helping Sick Kittens
Savvy Pet Care is currently caring for sick kittens for MeoowzResQ. These kitties were saved from a high kill shelter, where, due to their illness, they were destined to be euthanized.
As is common for kittens coming from shelters, they had upper respiratory infections (URI) and needed to be isolated from healthy kittens. URI is highly contagious and young kittens are very susceptible.
These sick kittens were also very underweight. At eight weeks, they each only weighed about a pound. The proper weight for a kitten is about one pound per month of age, so an 8-week old kitten should weigh about two pounds.
We gave these babies a safe, warm place to stay and proper amounts of food. We administered their prescribed medications. Now that they are over their URI and have put on some weight, they are ready to be spayed and neutered. They will go this Friday to Pro Pet Fix, a great low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Fullerton. They will be ready for adoption events the following week.
Fostering
If you have ever considered fostering cats or kittens, we highly recommend MeoowzResQ. They provide all supplies while you are fostering. All their kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption and come with a free vet exam. Some are microchipped. MeoowzResQ holds adoption events every weekend and uses other avenues such as craigslist, Petfinder, and Facebook to find adopters for the hundreds of cats and kittens they save every year.
